Another Jordan drop, another day of mass hysteria. Some of you may be checking this on just a few hours of sleep if you lined up for the midnight madness at a local Nike or Sneaker store. New Jordans have become a given since 1985, when the Air Jordan line was introduced. From the Air Jordan 1 to the latest Air Jordan 35, Jordan Brand has built a strong legacy predicated on the legendary Michael Jordan. Held in high regard by sneakerheads and sports fans alike, the line-up quickly rose to prominence by way of both collectible OG colourways and collaborations with names such as Travis Scott and Virgil Abloh’s Off-White imprint. When it comes to Jordan releases, there’s usually no love in the city. People may share a cultural similarity in their infatuation for kicks but when there is a limited release at select spots, it’s bound to get ugly. Especially, with Jordans right around the corner.

  1. Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Dark Marina Blue’: The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Dark Marina Blue’ dresses the iconic silhouette in classic two-tone colour blocking. The all-leather upper features a black base with contrasting dark blue overlays along the forefoot, heel, collar and eyestay somewhat reminiscent of the classic ‘royal’ colourway. A matching blue Swoosh is accompanied by a Jordan Wings logo stamped in black on the lateral collar flap. On the top of the nylon togue, a woven Nike Air tag appears in blue, while the usual white midsole/solid outsole setup wraps things up below. While, the world famous Air Jordan 1 stance and shape remain the same, this beloved retro make-up features a new flavour which is set to be released on February 17, 2022 is easily among this year’s one of the most anticipated sneakers.
  1. Air Jordan 3 Retro ‘Cardinal Red’: Jordan Brand has officially unveiled the Air Jordan 3 Retro ‘Cardinal Red’ as part of the brand’s Spring 2022 lineup set to be released on February 25, 2022. Dressed in a White, Light Curry, Cardinal Red, and Cement Grey colour scheme, this sneaker showcases a distinctive palette influenced by an OG colourway of the Air Jordan 7. The sneaker’s Bronze hue on the Jumpman tongue appears on the collar lining, molded eyelets, and raised Jumpman branding at the heel, all of which are contrasted by a white leather upper. A second Jumpman icon adorns the tongue in orange embroidery, while the 3’s signature elephant print overlays reinforce the forefoot and heel.
  1. Air Jordan 5 Retro ‘Racer Blue’: The Air Jordan 5 Retro ‘Racer Blue’ adds colour-popped accents to a stealthy colourway of the venerable 1990 silhouette, designed by Tinker Hatfield and introduced to the world by Mars Blackmon. It’s tipped to dip into the famed Black Metallic blocking. The mid-top makes use of a black upper with eyelets, translucent quarter panel netting and a reflective silver tongue. The latter features contrasting hits of royal blue on the embroidered Jumpman and interior lining. Lightweight cushioning arrives via a blue polyurethane midsole, embellished with black shark tooth detailing and fitted with visible Air-sole cushioning in the heel. A translucent rubber outsole provides grippy traction underfoot and having the retro Jordan 5 look hitting the stores on February 23, 2022.
  1. Air Jordan 1 Low ‘Bronze Eclipse’: The seasonal-staple Air Jordan 1 has picked up significant steam with these shoes. The Air Jordan 1 Low ‘Bronze Eclipse’ treats the iconic model to an elemental two-tone colour scheme. Unlike last year, the silhouette has surfaced in a slew of experimental builds, with perforations, corduroy, and mismatched blocking benefitting the sneaker but with the ‘Bronze Eclipse’, the colourway reverts back to something a little more classical in both its colour, blocking and material. The low-top utilizes a leather upper that pairs a crisp white base with contrasting burgundy overlays along the forefoot, collar and heel. Its two-tone blocking harkens back to the OG Storm Blue and Power Blue, with tongue branding, Swooshes, and outsoles all in the titular colour, nylon tongues, laces, and midsoles arrive to match the upper while a classic Wings logo decorates the sneaker’s back heel.
  1. Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT ‘Olive Aura’: For its latest ensemble, Suede of various lengths take over the Air Jordan 1-variant’s largest overlays, with the forefoot propositions indulging in a drab ‘Olive Aura’ tone. At the heel, soft paneling delivers stark “Khaki” contrast to both the White smooth leather base as it sits atop and the aforementioned detailing across the forefoot. Heather Grey colourway also enters on the swoosh, tongue and collar. Lastly, hits of a rich red animate branding on the tongue and insole, as well as the Peter Moore-design placed underfoot.

Air Jordan releases are not slowing down anytime soon, and as long as they continue to do business that they have done in recent years, there’s no reason for them to as with every year the releases and sneakers have been rising by a huge margin. Given the reputation of these Jordan shoes, it’s never not going to go out of style and is always going to keep a renowned hype in the sneakergame.
